Elite's Round FRP Reinforced Manhole Cover is designed for underground utility access where corrosion resistance, secure access, slip resistance and manageable handling weight are important project requirements.
Manufactured from fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite material, the cover provides a non-metallic alternative to traditional cast iron for municipal roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, telecommunications, electrical utilities, industrial facilities and other infrastructure applications.
The cover is manufactured from glass-fiber-reinforced polymer composite material, combining structural strength, dimensional stability and corrosion resistance in a relatively lightweight form.
Compared with many conventional cast iron covers, FRP composite construction can simplify transportation, installation and routine maintenance while avoiding the rust-related issues associated with ferrous materials.
Load performance depends on the exact cover size, frame structure and selected load class. Customers should confirm the required configuration and applicable test documentation before project approval.
The molded surface incorporates an anti-slip pattern designed to improve traction for pedestrians, maintenance personnel and vehicle tires.
This makes the product suitable for outdoor applications where wet surfaces, rainwater or frequent access may increase slip risk. Surface texture can also be customized according to project requirements where technically feasible.
An optional locking mechanism can help prevent unauthorized opening, tampering or accidental displacement of the cover.
This is particularly useful for telecommunications chambers, electrical utility access, municipal infrastructure, industrial facilities and other underground systems containing valuable or safety-critical equipment.
Lock type and opening method should be confirmed according to the required security level and maintenance procedure.
FRP composite does not rust in the same way as conventional ferrous materials. The material is therefore suitable for many outdoor, drainage, wastewater, coastal and industrial infrastructure applications exposed to moisture and changing environmental conditions.
For projects involving aggressive chemicals, wastewater gases, salt exposure or other demanding environments, customers should provide the actual operating conditions so that material suitability can be reviewed before ordering.
The non-metallic FRP structure provides electrical insulation, making it suitable for many telecommunications, underground power and utility applications where a conductive metal cover may not be preferred.
For specialist electrical or high-voltage projects, the required insulation criteria should be confirmed separately before approval.
Because the main cover body is made from non-metallic composite material, it has low scrap-metal value compared with traditional cast iron covers.
This can reduce theft incentive in public infrastructure applications while optional locking systems provide an additional level of access control.
Elite can configure round FRP composite manhole covers for different project load requirements, including A15, B125, C250 and D400.
| Load Class | Typical Project Consideration |
|---|---|
| A15 | Pedestrian, landscaped and other light-duty access areas where A15 is specified |
| B125 | Projects requiring B125-class access cover performance |
| C250 | Infrastructure zones requiring an intermediate higher load class |
| D400 | Specified heavy-traffic infrastructure applications subject to the exact tested configuration |

General underground utility access
Round covers are widely used for underground access because the geometry is practical for chamber openings and routine maintenance. When combined with FRP composite material, the design provides several additional advantages for infrastructure projects.
Corrosion resistance: avoids the conventional rusting behavior of ferrous covers.
Lower handling weight: can simplify installation and routine access.
Anti-slip surface: improves traction in wet outdoor environments.
Optional security: locking systems help control underground access.
Electrical insulation: useful for telecommunications and electrical utility projects.
Low scrap value: reduces the theft incentive associated with recyclable metal covers.
Customization: supports different sizes, load classes, colors, markings and functional features.
Surface safety is an important consideration for manhole covers installed in pedestrian areas, roads and outdoor utility environments.
The molded anti-slip pattern is designed to improve surface grip while maintaining the structural advantages of the FRP composite body. Different textures or molded identification patterns can be reviewed for customized infrastructure projects.
Projects containing telecommunications equipment, electrical systems, utility valves or other critical underground assets may require controlled access.
Elite can provide locking configurations according to project requirements. Additional options may include lifting handles, lifting keys, sealing gaskets and other access-related features.
The locking arrangement should be selected according to maintenance frequency, security requirements and the intended installation environment.
Elite supports OEM and ODM composite molding for projects requiring non-standard round covers or specialized features.
Customization can include cover diameter, clear opening, frame dimensions, load class, surface texture, locking mechanism, molded logo, utility markings, color, sealing structure and other project-specific requirements.
For custom development, customers should provide drawings, required dimensions, load conditions, installation environment, quantity and required technical documentation.

FRP manhole-cover production involves controlled composite preparation and compression molding. Dimensional consistency, molded surface quality, frame fit and load-related performance are important areas of quality inspection.
For infrastructure projects requiring EN124, ASTM, ISO-related or other technical documentation, customers should identify the exact standard and load class during the RFQ stage so that the available documentation for the selected product configuration can be confirmed.
