Elite-SS500*800
The Elite Electrical Insulation GRP Cover for Underground Power Cable Chambers is developed for underground electrical chambers used to accommodate power cables, jointing systems and associated connections. These chambers form part of distribution networks in which cable routes may pass beneath roads, paved compounds, industrial sites or dedicated utility areas.
Selecting an appropriate cover material is one consideration in the overall electrical installation design. GRP is a glass-fibre-reinforced composite that can provide electrical insulation properties, making it an alternative to conventional metallic covers where a non-conductive material is specified.
The cover is designed to close the chamber opening while allowing authorized access for cable installation, inspection and repair. Its dimensions and supporting arrangement can be tailored to the chamber structure, with the final configuration determined by the required loading conditions and installation environment.

Metallic covers can form a conductive component within an electrical installation. Where the project specification calls for a non-conductive cover material, GRP can be considered as part of the overall electrical safety design.
However, material insulation properties alone do not establish that an installation is electrically safe. Performance depends on the specific composite formulation, finished-product construction, environmental exposure and applicable test criteria. Where a defined insulation resistance, dielectric strength or other electrical rating is required, it should be confirmed through product-specific testing.
Underground cable chambers differ in opening size, cable arrangement, depth and structural support. Elite can manufacture covers according to project drawings, allowing dimensions and lifting provisions to correspond with the chamber layout and maintenance procedures.
For installations where cable joints or connection points require periodic access, the cover arrangement can be coordinated with the intended service opening without changing the overall chamber design.
Before ordering, the purchaser should confirm the chamber dimensions, support span, expected loading, installation environment and required electrical performance criteria. Where a recognized load class or electrical insulation rating is specified, compliance should be demonstrated through the applicable test documentation.
