The Anti-Theft SMC Manhole Cover is a non-metallic access cover developed for utility and municipal infrastructure where unauthorized removal of metal covers is a concern.
Manufactured from fiberglass reinforced SMC, the cover does not contain conventional cast iron as its main structural material. As a result, it does not offer the same scrap-metal resale value associated with traditional ferrous covers.
Beyond theft considerations, the composite material provides useful performance in wet, corrosive, and underground environments. It does not develop red rust like cast iron and can be used around drainage, sewer, telecommunications, electrical, and water infrastructure.
Traditional metal covers can be attractive targets for scrap-metal collection. A composite cover changes the material equation by removing conventional ferrous scrap value.
