Elite-MR450D
The Elite Lightweight Heavy-Duty D400 Composite Manhole Cover for Power Infrastructure is developed for power utility chambers located in areas where vehicle loading must be considered. These access points may be positioned within service roads, operational compounds and other traffic-bearing surfaces that provide access to underground electrical infrastructure.
For these installations, the cover must be selected according to the expected traffic, chamber geometry and supporting structure. A D400 classification is intended for specified installations subject to the applicable EN 124 requirements and the relevant product testing. The complete cover-and-frame assembly must be suitable for its intended installation.
The composite design offers an alternative to conventional heavy metallic covers. Where the verified product weight is lower than a comparable cover, this can simplify handling during delivery, installation and future replacement. The actual weight advantage depends on the cover dimensions, frame arrangement and selected construction.

D400 is a load class associated with EN 124 for manhole tops and gully tops in designated traffic areas. It should not be interpreted as a blanket guarantee of suitability for every road or vehicle-loading condition.
Before selection, the project team should confirm the installation category, anticipated traffic, clear opening, frame support, bedding and surrounding pavement construction. The cover assembly should be tested and specified for the required class, and installed in accordance with the applicable requirements.
For utility operators managing numerous access points, cover weight can influence delivery logistics, site handling and replacement work. A composite solution may help reduce the handling burden where its verified weight is lower than the existing cover, while retaining the required structural performance.
Elite can provide project-specific dimensions and configurations to help coordinate replacement covers with existing chambers. Compatibility should be confirmed against the actual opening and frame measurements before ordering.
Elite can customize cover dimensions, surface patterns, identification markings and compatible frame details according to project drawings.
For technical approval, purchasers should confirm the required EN 124 classification, product weight, cover-and-frame configuration, installation category and relevant test documentation before placing an order.
